TESTIMONY

Dr. Patric David Kivambe. MD

“Go to hell you nonsense and helpless doctor and you are not allowed to question any member of my family with your stupid papers (questionnaire)”, This sentence has been said, rephrased, altered and tilted in different ways 16 times by the community members in the societies that I have been into them while doing awareness creation campaigns on Malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS. But the only reason they said that is the fact that I was campaigning for these 3 infectious diseases while they are suffering from far different and treatable conditions... I realized the fact there was no point that I was wrong in my campaigns but something is lacking to add up some flavor in it… I told my father Dr. David Maurice Kivambe a holder of MD, MMED and MPH now working in Muhimbili National Hospital in Urology unit, who has experienced a lot more from PHC (Primary health Care) to several health campaigns in the country as he worked with religious institutions, government and other NGOs including OXFAM. He asked me cautiously 

“Did u feel embarrassed” I said “no i was not embarrassed it is just I realized that something somewhere is not right and he said “what is that son?”… I replied that “those guys were pissed off because every body has his/her own disease conditions and they couldn’t afford to go to the hospital due to either access or funding problem and so forth so they needed help at a spot, u can imagine while campaigning on Malaria someone is having either tonsillitis, schistosomiasis, cholera, meningitis, kwashiorkor and/or bunches of the rest of tropical diseases”.  I added “If they can’t go for them let us go for them”… He said “well my son what an idea, put it on the paper and roll it and see what happens”.

A month later he asked me “how do you do with go to hell you nonsense useless doctor?” I replied that I am a bit preoccupied as I have some other errands to run in the city... He gave me a long laughter and he said “What an embarrassment, am embarrassed that you are not serious at all and you no what? “He added “you know that am finishing to write my book titled... ‘My life experience’ I am now thinking of either put the new chapter in my book that will go by ‘the useless son I ‘ve ever had or I put it as my second project’… I said Daaad!!.... OKEY OK! Let me put this into writings so as TO BRING SMILES THROUGH WHEELS TO UNDERPRIVILEGED AT THEIR DOORSTEPS….HERE COMES PMC(PAMOJA MOBILE HOSPITAL).
